Choose the correct Shanghai terminal and make the most of your time ashore.
Check which Shanghai terminal your ship will use before booking a transfer. Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal is at No. 1 Baoyang Road, Baoshan. Shanghai Port International Cruise Terminal is at No. 500 Dongdaming Road, Hongkou, on the North Bund. These are different pickup locations.

Give your driver the terminal shown on your cruise documents, together with the ship, date, luggage and passenger details. For Wusongkou, the city lists Metro Line 3 to Baoyang Road followed by Baoshan 29 bus as a public transport option; check current services and allow for the final approach with luggage.
Build your shore visit around the actual disembarkation time and your ship's all-aboard deadline. The Bund and Yu Garden suit a city visit; an overnight call leaves more room for evening sightseeing. Consider a water-town excursion only after the transfer time and return margin have been checked for your terminal.
Arrange entry formalities in advance. Eligible cruise groups of at least two foreign visitors organized and received by a Chinese travel agency may qualify for up to 15 days without a visa under the national cruise policy. Entry is no longer restricted to Shanghai as the first Chinese port. The group must travel onward on the same ship until it leaves China; ask about separate requirements if ending or beginning your cruise here.
