The peach is known as a species native to China. It was introduced to Persia and the Mediterranean region along the Silk Road before Christian times. The peach trees are in bloom in early spring, solitary or paired, 2.5–3 cm diameter, pink, with five petals. The peach often plays an important part in Chinese tradition and is symbolic of long life.
Pick up from your hotel around 9:00am and head to Pinggu District, northeast suburban district of Beijing. Pinggu is the home of the world's largest peach orchard. The orchard occupies about 20,000 hectares of trees that bear the crisp, sweet fruit, but the area also produces strawberries, plums, apricots and pears. The orchard's stature is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Every year Pinggu Peach Blossom Festival will be held around April 15-25. The festival will draw a great number of camera-toting visitors. You will be also arranged to visit the nearby Jingdong Water-eroded Cave. Jingdong (Eastern Beijing) Stalactite Cavern is a must to go place when you are in Pinggu. The cave is 2500 meters long including 100-meter water way. It is listed as the AAAA National Grade Scenic Area by the government. What makes the Cave so special are the stalagmites, stalactites, and columns that can be found inside the cave. The formations were formed over thousands of years by dripping water. It is a magical site with so much to see that always makes visitors feel like there is something they won't miss. It is one of the highlights to any trip to Pinggu. Lunch will be arranged in one of the local farmhouse to enjoy the local food. After the whole day tour, return to your downtown hotel.
