Departing Beijing by train, you'll travel to Chengde and onward to the sprawling Mulan Weichang Grassland, a former imperial hunting ground. Pick up from your hotel in Beijing early in the morning by our tour guide with your private vehicle and transferred to Beijing Railway Station. You will take 4-hour morning train for Chengde. Arrival at Chengde Railway Station at noon. You will be met by our Chengde tour guide at the entrance of your train carriage on the platform. After lunch at Chengde, drive 250km and get to Bashang Grassland in Mulan Weichang ( or Mulan Weichang Grassland ). The landscape in the Mulan Weichang , which locates at 450 kilometers northeast to Beijing, is the most beautiful. There are 1658 square kilometers covered with forest or grassland. Most of the day on the grassland: horse riding, arrow shooting, driving etc (all the grassland activities are not included in the tour package). After late lunch, drive back to Chengde. Stay at our designated Hotel in Chengde. Hotel: Yes
After early breakfast, have a half day's tour of Chengde. First visit Mountain Resort . It was the largest royal garden during that time. Over two hundred years ago Emperor Kang Xi (1662-1723) happened to find the place while making a hunting trip. It is said that it took 87 years to finish the building of a lavish and ancient palace. The palace is surrounded by a wall over ten kilometers long, meandering along the mountain ridges. It is the largest and best-preserved imperial palace outside of the capital Beijing. Then move on to visit Putuo Zongcheng Temple , also called Little Potala Palace. It was built in 1767. It is one of the Eight Outer Temples outside the Mountain Resort. It is similar to the Potala Palace in Lhasa. The buildings are a blend of Han and Tibetan styles. It used to be a location for important religion ceremonies, now, it has become an important monument in Chengde. The visit takes about two hours.
