6 Day Beijing Inner Mongolia Genghis Khan and Desert Exploration Tour

Pick up from your hotel around 19:30 and transferred to Beijing West Train Station. Take overnight train to Hohhot from Beijing by K89 leaving at 22:17 for Hohhot. 4 people sharing one cabin.

Arriving at Hohhot at 7:25am, met by our English speaking tour guide at Hohhot Railway Station and transferred to a hotel for buffet breakfast. After breakfast, then drive directly to Qixinghu (Seven Star) Desert Eco-Tourism Resort. Qixinghu Desert Eco-Tourism Resortis 330km west of Hohhot and the drive takes about 5 hours. You will go through the first sand road in the world - Crossing Sand Road. Arriving at the resort, then have lunch.

Seven Star Lake Desert Eco-Tourism Resort is a theme of ecological construction in the desert. Water activities include motorboat, yachts, boats, water bikes, fishing, etc., the sand activities cover sand sliding, paragliding, hot air balloon, sand volleyball, sand football, horse riding, camel (all the activities are not included in the tour package). In the evening, enjoy the folklore singing and dancing party.

After breakfast, head to Ordos Grassland, 100km south of the Qixinghu Desert Eco-Tourism Resort. The drive takes about 2 hours.

Arriving at Ordos Grassland, you will receive a welcoming ceremony - you will be warmly welcomed by the local Mongolians colorfully dressed. They will present each of you a silver cup of wine and Hada ( white or blue silk scarves which are tokens of greetings in Inner Mongolia ).

Then check in your yurt for the overnight stay here. Two people share one yurt. After lunch, go to the stud farm to select the horse for your horseback riding. The cost for horseback riding is not included in the tour package. Usually RMB 380 per round per person including the horse riding, visiting Aobao and a herdsmen's family, which usually takes about 2 hours. The horseback is the highlight of the tour.

After horseback riding, you are arranged to see the Performances of Mongolian style wrestling, Horse racing and Equestrian. The first program is wrestling competition performed by local Mongolians. Most of them are very vigorous. Then followed by Horse racing and Equestrian.

After dinner, take a break till 9:pm when you go to an open place in front of the main complex to enjoy bonfire party. There is a large stage for the performers. A bonfire is ignited in front of the stage. Almost all the people on the grassland will gather her in the evening. They form a circle and dance or let off fireworks. People enjoy the wonderful local songs and dances presented by the local Mongolians under a starry sky.

After breakfast, continue to drive eastwards to Genghis Khan Mausoleum, 180km east of Ordos Grassland. The drive takes about 2.5 hours. The Gengkis Khan Mausoleum visit takes 1.5 hours. Genghis Khan is a Mongolian hero who reunified the chaotic Inner-Mongolia prairie, made great contribution to the founding of the powerful Yuan Dynasty and enhanced greatly the interaction of the people of China.

After lunch, drive 325km back to Hohhot. The drive takes about 5 hours. On the way, you will be arranged to visit a local largest arts and crafts factory - Menglang Arts and Crafts Factory. After dinner, transferred to our designated hotel in Hohhot.

You will have a free and easy morning to recharge yourself. After lunch in Hohhot, you will be arranged to visit Dazhao Monastery. Dazhao Monastery is the largest and best preserved lama temple in Hohhot. It was founded originally in Ming Dynasty, and reconstructed in Qing Dynasty. As the first Lama temple in Hohhot, it has been regarded as a religious heart for people from all over Mongolia.

Inner Mongolia Museum is located in the heart of Hohhot and is the largest and best museum in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It has a wide selection of ethnic Mongolian items, and a historical lineage of this huge grassland province. The museum is home to a variety of interesting exhibitions that should catch your eyes.

Later do a bit souvenir shopping before you head to the train station taking K90( 22:44 - next day 7:26am ) for Beijing. Overnight on train (4-bed cabin ). Arrival in Beijing at 7:26 am, you are met and transferred to your hotel or residence in Beijing.
