The Dingling Tomb Museum sits at the foot of Dayushan Mountain, 40km north of Beijing. Occupying 180,000 aq.m, the tomb holds the remains of the Ming Emperor Wanli and his two empresses-Xiaoduan and Xianjing.
More than 3,000 rare treasures were excavated from the tomb. The most notable exhibits in the museum are the gold crown for the emperor, and the gold phoenix crown for the empress. The crowns were completely woven with thin gold wire and not even one connecting tie can be seen.
The Dingling Tomb Museum houses two exhibition halls. One mainly holds visual and textual introductions to the original state of Dingling, and the process of the Dingling excavation. A large number of unearthed articles and relics, including portraits of the emperor and his empresses, the phoenix crowns, costumes and ribbons, are also on display.
The other exhibition hall mainly holds funereal articles exhibition from the underground palace.
