Shandong is a coastal province of the eastern China. "Shandong" literally means "mountain's east", which is related to the province's location east of the Taihang Mountains.
Shandong is located in the lower reaches of Yellow River and extends out to sea in the Shandong Peninsula. Shandong borders the Yellow Sea to the southeast, Bohai Bay to the north, Henan Province to the west, Hebei to the northwest, Jiangsu to the south and also have a very short border with Anhui.
