Embark on a 9-day private journey from Kunming to Shangri-La, hiking the legendary Tiger-Leaping Gorge and exploring Naxi and Tibetan cultures amid Yunnan's breathtaking landscapes.
This 9-day private hiking tour immerses you in the dramatic scenery and rich ethnic cultures of northwest Yunnan. Begin in Kunming, then fly to Lijiang to explore Baisha Village, the Baisha Murals, and Joseph Rock’s former residence, with views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The adventure continues with a four-hour hike along the upper trails of Tiger-Leaping Gorge to Walnut Grove, followed by days of walking through Naxi villages and around Haba Snow Mountain. Visit the sacred Baishuitai (White Water Terrace) before driving to Shangri-La (Zhongdian), the gateway to Tibet, where you’ll explore a Tibetan village, Shudu Lake, and the impressive Songzanlin Temple. Fly back to Kunming for the Stone Forest and a final visit to the Flower & Bird Market. Enjoy included meals and comfortable local guesthouses throughout.

Met and transferred to your hotel in Kunming. Free for rest of the day. ( D )
Visit the Baisha Village and a local Naxi family, the Baisha Murals, the Rock Joseph's Former Residence in Yuhu Village. Then visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the Old Town on your own yourselves. Enjoy the Naxi Ancient Music and Dance Performance at Dongba Palace after dinner. ( B L D )
After breakfast, first drive to Qiaotou town. Then hike on upper trails of Tiger-Leaping Gorge to Walnut Grove for about 4 hours. On the way enjoy spectacular gorge scenes with the Yangtze running down in the gorge. Stay at Woody Guesthouse ( B L D )
Afrer breakfast, hiking for three hours to get to Heika. It is a small Naxi village sites beside the Yangtze River. Then hiking to the river shore for one hour. Stay at a local inn ( B L D )
After breakfast, stll walking and get to Haba Village taking 5 hours. It is a beautiful hiking around the Haba Snow Mountain. Stay at Snow Sea Guesthouse. There you can enjoy the snow peak in the courtyard. ( B L D )
After breakfast, drive to Sanba Village. First visit Baishuitai ( White Water Terrace) where the Naxi Culture comes from. It is now the sacred place for Naxi people. After lunch, drive to the Shangri-la: Zhongdian. ( B L D )
It is the gateway to Tibet. Exploring real Tibetan culture in this mountainous region. Visit a Tibetan village as well as Shudu Lake, a nature preserve with wonderful birdlife. Also visit Songzanlin Temple. ( B L D )
After breakfast, take a morning flight for Kunming. Met and transferred to the Stone Forest for sightseeing. ( B L D )
