Touch the historic district of the southern Beijing, the cradle of Beijing city development, home to old hutong and genuine local Beijingers. You see Liulichang antique street - the oldest street in Beijing. Liulichang is 800m long with a long history from Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now, there are dozen of shops here. The area is really a good place to these who love the Chinese culture - ancient books, jade, gold, pottery wares, calligraphy, paintings, musical instruments.
Dazhalan is a 1.26-square-kilometre area of 114 streets and alleys. With more than 51,000 residents, it claims to be one of the most densely-populated residential communities in the world. Qianmen Street is one of the last remnants of the business centers of old Beijing. It has been transformed into a modern commercial pedestrian street, the second walking street after Wangfujiang Street in the downtown shopping ditrict Beijing.
