Tourist Attraction Description

The Sacred Way - A large memorial archway called Pailou at the southern end of the mausoleum area of the 13 Ming Dynasty Tombs. Along the Sacred Way there are 18 pairs of marble figures lined up in face to face. These marble figures were erected over 500 years ago, as guard of honour in front of the mausoleum.

Underground Palace ( Dingling ) - Some 50 kilometers northwest of the downtown Beijing, the Ming Tombs are generally known as the "13 Tombs". This is the burial site of 13 out of 17 emperors of the Ming Dynasty. However, the only one you can get a good look at is the tomb of Emperor Wanli, who reigned from 1537 to 1620. This tomb was unearthed in 1956. His tomb is usually dubbed as "Underground Palace".

Changping District - Directly north of Beijing City Proper, Changping District has flat terrain full of orchards and farmland. Beijing Changping local government has chosen a five kilometer area in it Nankou Town as Tourism Development Zone in which lots of scenic spots have been developed. Tourists can enjoy the beautiful area and hiking or visit museums and amusement parks. The Changping Town is not a fancy area, but its central location makes it as a good point in travelling the north of Beijing. You can go to Changping by driving along the Beijing-Changping Expressway. If you don't have a car, you may take the Bus 919/920 from Deshengmen.
