It is the most prominent plaza in Macau, an urban centre for centuries and it is still the most popular venue for public events and celebrations today. Senado square was constructed by the colonial rulers of Macau showcasing their glory and design ability. The square is paved with a wave-patterned mosaic of coloured stones, created by Portuguese experts. The square contains some shops and restaurants well worth a visit.
Visit the St. Paul's Ruins
As the most famous landmark of Macau, It is a grand imposing facade which is the ruins of an early 16th century church designed by Italians and built by Japanese Christian exiles from 1602 to 1637. In 1835, a fire burned it to the ground, leaving only the façade, the staircase and portions of a wall.
Monte Fort in Macau
It was built between 1617 and 1626 as part of the church of St. Paul's project and with the aim at defending the city from possible attacks.
Centrally located, the fort is a splendid place to obtain overall views of the city, including Ruins of St. Paul's below, and one can see China just across the estuary.
Macau Museum
Located at the Monte Fort and facing St.Paul's Ruins, Macau Museum was opended on April 18, 1998. Its purpose is to preserve the cultural traditions, usages and habits, which specifically unique to Macau. It covers a great number of artifacts of a great historical value which have been carefully chosen and are arrestingly showed.
Casino Liboa
Casino Lisboa is one of the most famous hotel casinos in Macau. This three-storey complex was built in late 1960s. As of 2006, yet another extension, the Grand Lisboa, is being built next to the current complex.
