Hebei Great Wall 3 Day Tour

Picked up from your hotel in Beijing around 7:30am and escorted to Beijing South Railway Station. Take the 2 and half hour highspeed train from Beijing to Shanhaiguan leaving Beijing around 9:00am (the actual train number and departure time to be reconfirmed by your trip advisor from Tour Beijing). Note: 1. Shanhaiguan is a district under the jurisdiction of Qinhuangdao City. Shanhaigua is well known for the "First Pass Under Heaven", considered the No.1 pass of the Great Wall and the "Old Dragon's Head, the eastern end of the Great Wall, stretching 23 meters into the sea like a dragon drinking water, hence its name - the "Old Dragon's Head." 2. Qinhuangdao is a coastal city in Hebei province. It is situated about 300 km east of Beijing, on the Bohai. Arriving at Shanhaiguan Railway Station, you are met by our English speaking tour guide at the exit holding a sign up with your name on it. After Chinese lunch, drive to the northwest direction for about 70km and reach Chengzuyi Village which gives the name to the Great Wall around the village - Chengziyu Great Wall. You are escorted to hike around Chengziyu Great Wall for about 2 hours. "Chengziyu" literally means "castle's valley". Chengziyu Great Wall is divided into two sections with the wide valley in the middle – east section and west section. You will climb the west section since we come to the village in the afternoon. Tonight you will stay in Mr. Zhang's two-storey building, one of the two two-storey buildings in the village, belonging to the part of the people who have got rich first. The host will cook the local dinner for you, an organic meal which may include fried egges from their own naturally raised chichens; braised pork in soy sauce with the pork from their own raised pigs and vegatables from their own fields. Note: Mr.Zhang is the only Great Wall warden in Chengziyu Great Wall. He is also a memeber of China Great Wall Protection Association. He is the 14th generation of the descendants from the army and builders led by Qi Jiguang from Yi Wu, a town in southern China.

After simple Chinese breakfast at Mr.Zhang's house, you head to Xiaohekou Great Wall , about 15km to the east of Chengziyu Great Wall. The Xiaohekou Great Wall was originally built from the year 1381 in Ming Dynasty with a total length of 8.9km. This section of the Great Wall has 36 watch towers, of which there are 12 towers have stone carvings in decorated design and style on the windows and doors. Xiaohekou Great Wall was first discovered in July, 2004. Ever since there are more and more pleople coming to Xiaohekou including photographers, archaeologists, artists and normal travelers. You will hike around Xiaohekou Great Wall for about 2 hours. After Chinese lunch, continue to drive to Jiumenkou Great Wall , about 40km to the southeast of Xiaohekou Great Wall. The Great Wall on the river has nine sluice gates, hence the name of Jiumenkou Great Wall, which literally means Nine Gates Pass Great Wall. This section of the Great Wall was originally built in Nirthern Qi Dynasty (479-502) and was rebuilt in 1381 in Ming Dynasty by General Xuda who led the army and local farmers. It was one of the important passes in the northeast of Beijing. This is a restored section of the Great Wall, and rebuilt during 1980s. In September 2002, Jiumenkou Great Wall was listed as World Cultural Heritage site. Tonight you stay at Qinhuangdao International Hotel (4 star)which is located at Haigang District in Qinhuangdao City. Qinhuangdao is a coastal city in Hebei province. It is situated about 300 km east of Beijing, on the Bohai.

After breakfast at hotel, drive to the northeast direction to Shanhaiguan . First visit Shanhaiguan ancient pass city . The pass city used to be an important defense city against intrusions by the nomadic people from the north. The city was sandwiched by the Yanshan Mountains in the north and the Bohai Sea in the south, hence the name of Shanhaiguan meaning "Pass between Mountains and Sea" in Chinese. Afterwards, move on to visit Old Dragon's Head ( Laolongtou ), the easternmost end of the Great Wall, which extends 23 meters into the sea,like a dragon drinking water, hence its name. This part of the Great Wall was first constructed in Ming dynasty (1368-1644) and was largely repaired in the 7th year of Kangxi reign in the Qing dynasty (1668). After lunch, take the afternoon highspeed train from Shanhaiguan to Beijing. Met and transferred to your hotle in Beijing.
