Experience a winter morning in Beijing with a private family visit to Pinggu's Huangsongyu Reservoir, where you'll watch traditional ice fishing beneath the Great Wall.
Escape the city for a day of authentic winter culture on this private family tour. Departing from your downtown Beijing hotel at 7:00am, you'll drive along the Jingping Expressway to the Pinggu District, about 100km northeast. Your first stop is Huangsongyu Reservoir, nestled at the foot of the Huangsongyu Great Wall. Here, watch local fishermen pull nets through the ice—a centuries-old tradition. This intimate experience offers a rare glimpse into rural life near Beijing, perfect for families seeking meaningful connection. Picked up from your hotel in downtown Beijing around 7:00am, then escorted by our tour guide, drive along Jingping Expressway to the Pinggu District in the east of Beijing. First come to Huangsongyu Reservoir to watch the fish catching. The reservoir lies at the foot of Huangsongyu Great Wall in Huangsongyu Village in Pinggu District, about 100km in the northeast of Beijing city proper. A fish net has been put the night before under the iced lake surface though a dug hole. When you arrive, the local villagers will pull the net and catch the fish.
Then move on to the Diaowo Village. The village has 54 households with over 100 villagers. Today you will meet Mrs Li and her husband Mr. Hao in their courtyard home. A few years ago Mrs. Li retired and left the busy downtown Beijing and relocated to her husband birth place for spending the retirement life. Now she eats the vegetables she plants in her front yard and the Geese & Chickens in her back yard, enjoying an organic living and healthy life. You will have a home lunch made by Lady Li, chatting on their life and getting a good feel of its people of China.
After lunch, drive back to Yuyang Ski Resort for 2-4 hour skiing. At present, the ski resort boasts of 11 trails for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers, where the longest one is 3,2000 meters long. It also offers a quadruple chair lift, 12 double chair lifts and for amusement is equipped with snowmobiles and sledges. Drive back to your hotel in Beijing.
