Pick up from your hotel in Beijing around 6:00am. First drive to Yeyahu Lake ( Wild Duck Lake ) near the Guanting Reservoir in Yanqing County in Northwestern suburban Beijing. Yeyahu Lake is the biggest wetland in north China. It is Beijing only national level wetland. It is comprised of lakes, ponds, swamps and grassland which cover a vast 1.5 million square meters. The good environment makes it a nice choice for many migratory birds. It is recorded that more than 264 kinds of wild bird species come to the wetland as stopping place during their migration. This makes the lake an ideal site for birding.
After the bird watching in Yeyahu, then visit the Yeyahu Wetland Museum. The museum contains a great number of sample birds and animals which once lived in this area.
After lunch, visit the Badaling Great Wall ( 2 hours ). The Badaling section of Great Wall is about 3, 740 meters long and averagely 8 meters high. The highest section is 15 meters high. The wall is wide enough for five horses to ride abreast. Badaling was the earliest part open to the visitors among all the sections of the Great Wall in Beijing.
After finishing the bird watching and the Great Wall hiking tour, transferred back to your midtown hotel in Beijing.
