After breakfast at your hotel, start your tour with the visit to Tiananmen Square (40 minutes), the largest public square in the world. Then move on to the Forbidden City (2 hours), the Chinese imperial palace from the mid-Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. After lunch at a nice restaurant, head to the Shichahai Area (2.5 hours) - the old part of Beijing. First you have a hard-to-get-opportunity of one-hour tour of a 300-year old courtyard . With the help of your English speaking tour guide, the housekeeper of the yard gives you a detailed explanation of the old courtyard ( Siheyuan ) - its history, its layout, its Fengshui, and its traditiona Chinese culture involved. Then take a pedcab and drive through the zigzag and narrow alleys or hutongs. Two people share one rickshaw. Drop off the peidicab at the Silver Ingot Bridge( Yinding Bridge ) and walk along the 800-year old Yandai Xiejie ( Tobacco Pipe Lean Street ), and get to the Drum Tower . Ascending the 67-meter high and two-story Drum Tower dating from 1420 is sure to bring you back to the old Beijing by seeing the big drum tower and having bird's eye view of the surrounding communities of hutongs and siheyuan - existing traditional courtyards in Beijing. Tonight, you will be arrange to see Beijing Opera at Liyuan Theatre (Add: 1/F Qianmen Hotel, Yongan Road, Hufangqiao, Xicheng District, Beijing). Show time: 19:30 - 20:40. Return to your hotel at the end of the show. Lunch: Beijing food lunch at Fuku Restaurant
Morning excursion to the most strong and magnificent section of the Great Wall - the Badaling Great Wall (2 hours). The hike takes about 2-3 hours. After lunch, continue to visit Changling (1.5 hours), one of the 13 Ming Tombs of the 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty ( 1368 - 1644). Back to your hotel. Lunch: Chinese lunch at Siwei Restaurant
After breakfast, start your morning tour with the visit to the Summer Palace (2 hours), originally a royal garden and a temporary dwelling palace for emperors of Qing Dynasty. After lunch, head to the Olympic Green (40 minutes) to have an outside look at the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. Then go to visit Beijing City Planning Exhibition Hall (1.5 hours), displaying the great achievements of the modern urban planning and development, and exhibiting the splendid future of Beijing's urban development. The 16,000 square-meter floor space is distributed on 4 floor levels in the Hall, with 8,000 square meters for exhibits. After the day tour, back to your hotel in Beijing. Visit the west of Beijing. First visit Peking Man Site at Zhoukoudian (2 hours), an important Paleolithic site - listed as world cultural heritage. It was was first excavated in 1927, in a cave on Dragon Bone Hill at Zhoukoudian, southwest of Beijing. In 1929, skull fossils of Peking Man were discovered here, giving concrete evidence for the existence of primitive man in the Beijing area and marking a milestone in the history of paleo-anthropology. After Peking Man tour, move on to Jietai Temple (1.5 hours), the temple,one of China's most famous ancient Buddhist sites. Its four main halls occupy terraces on a gentle slope up to Ma'an Shan (Saddle Hill). Lastly, head to Marco Polo Bridge (1.5 hours), which is best remembered in modern times as the spot where invading Japanese armies clashed with Chinese soldiers on June 7, 1937, hence the start of Sino-Japanese War. After breakfast, start your morning tour with the visit to the Temple of Heaven (2 hours), the place where the emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for peace and harvest. After lunch, transfer to airport for departure or free activity on your own. Lunch: Chinese lunch at Junyuexing Restaurant
