Chinese painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world. In China bird-flower paintings, all kinds of plants, flowers, birds and insects are given various symbolic meanings. Flowers and birds can be compared to almost all the thoughts and feelings of human being. They represent feminine beauty, virtues, integrity, lucky niceness, political authority and etc. Chinese bird-flower paintingis one of the three major kinds of Chinese painting (the other two are landscape and figure paintings). Normally, most bird-and-flower paintings belong to the scholar-artist style of Chinese painting.
Learning Highlights
The class will be conducted in English. The supplies or the Four Treasures of the Study - the ink brush, ink, paper(made of rice & bamboo), and inkstone - are
provided by us.
You don't necessarily have learnt Chinese painting before, just be enthusiastic and be willing to hold a brush.
