Beijing Xian Guilin Travel Tips

Today, a traveler named László sent me an email inquirying about some "sily" questions about the travel in Beijing, Xian and Guilin. I find these funny questions may be also useful to the potential tourists traveling to Beijing, Xian and Guilin. So I decide to have them posted here.

He says that "I think, our trip to China will be the best and most outstanding discovery in our (my wife and me) life. In order NOT to loose any momment staying in your wonderful country we would like to get few local information, if it is possible. Such as:

1. In Beijing

* How can we access our hotel from the International Airport if no taxi is preferred? And how much CNY does it cost? Our Hotel address is Beijing Forbidden City Hotel No.5 Nanheyan Street Dongcheng District Beijing 100005 Peking (Beijing) Answer: If you don't want to take a taxi directly from airport to your hotel, you may use airport shuttle bus or airport express train. 1. For Beijing Airport Shuttle Bus, you may take bus no.02 and get off at the final stop of Xidan (CNY 16 per person), then take a taxi to your hotel. 2. For Beijing Airport Express Train, you may take the light train to Dongzhimen Stop (CNY 20 per person), then take a taxi to your hotel. * Is there any weekly ticket for public transporation (METRO, BUS etc) in Beijing, for foreigners? How much does it cost for a week, or for a seven-day period? Answer: There is no weekly ticket for public transporation (METRO, BUS etc) in Beijing for foreigners. For the city transportation convenience, you are highly recommended to buy a Beijing bus IC card, a kind of transportation smart card. A bus IC Card can be also used to pay for taxi or subway. Check out Beijing Transportation, for more information. * Credit card MASTER is accepted in the hotels, or in supermarkets, restaurants? Answer: Credit card ( visa and master ) is very popular in China, accepted in hotels and supermarkets. But some small restaurants and shops don't accept cards. Please check out Beijing Travel Tips . * How earlier should we go to the airport when flying to XIAN city. Answer: For domestic flights, you are supposed to be at the airport one hour before the departure time. Plus one hour on your way from your hotel to the airport, you should leave your hotel two hours before departure time.

2. In Xian city

* How can we access our hotel from the International Airport if no taxi is preferred? And how much CNY does it costs? Our Hotel address is JJ Inns - Xi'an Jianguomen, No.5 Huancheng East Road Xi'an 710048 Answer: You may take Xian Airport Shuttle Bus Line 01 and get off at Xian Melody Hotel (Bell Tower) CNY 20, then walk to your hotel. * Is there any weekly ticket for public transporation (METRO, BUS etc) in Xian, for foreigners? How much does it cost for a week, or for a seven-day period? Answer: No weekly ticket for public transporation (METRO, BUS etc) in Xian. Answer: Credit card ( visa and master ) is very popular in China, accepted in hotels and supermarkets. But some small restaurants and shops don't accept cards. Answer: Xian Xianyang International Airport is a little far, about 45km from the down town Xian, you are advised to leave your hotel 2 and half hours before departure time.

3.in Guillin city

* How can we access our hotel from the International Airport if no taxi is preferred? And how much CNY does it cost? Our Hotel address is River View Hotel No. 11 Binjiang Road, Yangsuo County Guilllin, 541900 Answer: Actually, your hotel is not located in the city proper of Guilin. Instead, it is located in Yangshuo, approxi 70km southest of Guilin city. You first take the airport shuttle bus to the downtown Guilin costing you CNY 20. The aiport is about 30 km from the city of Guilin. Then you get off at the Guilin Longdistance Bus Terminal where you buy the bus tickets for Yangshou County. The bus fare is about 20-30 CNY. * Is there any weekly ticket for public transporation (METRO, BUS etc) in Guilin, for foreigners? How much does it cost for a week, or for a seven-day period? Answer: No weekly ticket for public transporation (METRO, BUS etc) in Guilin. Answer: Credit card ( visa and master ) is very popular in China, accepted in hotels and supermarkets. But some small restaurants and shops don't accept cards. * How earlier should we go to the airport when flying back to BEIJING city, International Airport? Answer: If you start from your hotel in Yangshuo for Guilin International Airport, how early to leave your hotel mainly depends on how you get to the airport? By a taxi, or long distance bus? For a taxi transfer, it will take you about 1 and half hour, so you are supposed to leave your hotel 2 and half hours before your departure time. If taking a longdistance bus to the city of Guilin, then connect the shuttle bus to the Guilin airport, you are advised to leave your hotel about 4 hours.
